This Privacy Policy was originally established in Japanese. If there are any conflict or discrepancy in meaning between the original Privacy Policy and this English translated version of Privacy Policy, the Japanese version will prevail to the extent.

 

Shippio, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Shippio”) considers the protection of personal information as its responsibility, and has established this Privacy Policy as its basic policy regarding the protection of personal information. Shippio promises to take care in collecting and handling personal information provided by you in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Article 1: Definition

Shippio defines and handles personal information as below:

 -  Information regarding an living individual (not only name and date of birth, but also other information that could be used to identify a specific individual), as defined in the “Act on the Protection of Personal Information,”
 -  Information related to a specific individual, such as e-mail address, user ID, password, etc.
 -  Information integrated with personal information, such as hobbies, family information, age, and other information.

Article 2: Purpose of Use

Shippio will specify the purpose of use as clearly as possible when collecting personal information.

‍Article 3: Restriction upon Use

Shippio will not handle personal information beyond the primary purpose stated in Article 2, without your confirmation. Even if Shippio collects new personal information by business transfer, company merger, or any other reason, Shippio still will not handle such information beyond the primary purpose stated in Article 2, without your confirmation.
However, this shall not apply in cases as below:

(1) When required by law
(2) When urgently necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person, and when Shippio determines it is difficult to obtain your confirmation in advance.
(3) When necessary, especially to improve public healthcare or to promote child development and healthcare, and when Shippio determines it is difficult to obtain your confirmation in advance.
(4) When necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or any organization or an individual commissioned by either parties, to perform administrative duties required by law, and when Shippio determines it may interfere with such procedures by obtaining your confirmation in advance.

Article 4: Collecting Procedure

Shippio will collect personal information through appropriate procedure and will not collect personal information through deceptive or illegal procedure.

Article 5: Purpose Notification

When collecting personal information, Shippio will clearly announce the purpose of use in advance. However, this shall not apply in cases as below:

(1) When Shippio determines that notifying or announcing the detail may violate your or third party’s life, body, property, or other rights or interests.
(2) When Shippio determines that notifying you or announcing the details may violate Shippio’s rights or legitimate profits.
(3) When necessary to cooperate with a national agency or a local government to perform administrative duties required by law, and when Shippio determines it may interfere with such procedures by notifying you or announcing the details.
(4) When Shippio determines that the purpose of use is clearly admitted from the situation upon collecting the information.
Article 6: Change in Purpose

When Shippio decides to change the purpose of use of personal information, Shippio shall not exceed the range which could be reasonably and considerably relevant to the original purpose, and shall notify you or make an announcement regarding the revised purpose of use of the personal information.

Article 7: Management and Employee Supervision

To prevent leakage, loss, or damage and to ensure the safe management of personal information, Shippio shall establish separate personal information protection rules and provide necessary and appropriate supervision of its employees.

Article 8: Subcontractor Supervision

When Shippio determines to entrust the handling of personal information partially or fully to a third party (subcontractor), Shippio will sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement between such party, or require the party to agree to Shippio’s terms and conditions, to perform necessary and appropriate supervision over the entrusted party to make sure the personal information will be securely and properly managed by the party.

Article 9: Restriction of Provision to Third Parties

Shippio will not provide personal information to third parties without confirming you in advance, except for the following cases:

(1) When required by law
(2) When urgently necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person, and when Shippio determines it is difficult to obtain your confirmation in advance.
(3) When necessary, especially to improve public healthcare or to promote child development and healthcare, and when Shippio determines it is difficult to obtain your confirmation in advance.
(4) When necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or any organization or an individual commissioned by either parties, to perform administrative duties required by law, and when Shippio determines it may interfere with such procedures by obtaining your confirmation in advance.
(5) When Shippio determines that the following situations have been notified to you or announced in advance:
a.Purpose of use includes provision of information to a third party
b.Data items to be provided to a third party
c.Procedure or method upon provision to a third party
d.Upon your request, provision of personal information to a third party shall be terminated.However, the following cases do not fall under the category of “third parties” as defined above:
(1) When Shippio determines to outsource fully or partially the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of personal information use.
(2) When Shippio determines that personal information shall be provided in relation to business succession due to transfer, merger, or any other reasons.
(3) When Shippio determines that personal information shall be used jointly with a specific party, and when Shippio notifies or makes it easily accessible to the customer in advance of: type of information, scope and purpose of use, and the name of the party responsible in managing.When Shippio determines that personal information shall be used jointly with a specific party, or when there are changes to purpose of use or the name or title of the person or party responsible for the management of the personal information, Shippio will notify or makes it easily accessible to the customer in advance of the details of the changes.
Article 10: Publication of Personal Information related matters
Shippio will make the following matters concerning personal information available to the customer and respond to the customer without delay upon request.
(1)Purposes of use of personal information (except for details which there is no obligation to do so under the law regarding the protection of personal information. Shippio will notify you without delay, when Shippio decides not to respond.)
(2)Contact for inquiries regarding personal information.
Article 11: Disclosure
When you request Shippio to disclose your personal information, Shippio will disclose such personal information to you without delay. However, Shippio may decide not to disclose personal information partially or fully in following cases. Shippio will notify you without delay, when Shippio decides not to disclose personal information.
(1) When Shippio determines there is a risk of violation to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of yourself or a third party.
(2) When Shippio determines there is a risk of significant interference to the proper procedure of Shippio’s business.
(3) When Shippio determines there is a risk of violation to other laws or regulations. In principle, Shippio will not disclose any information other than personal information, such as access logs.
Article 12: Correction of Information

When you request to correct, add or delete (hereinafter referred to as “correct, etc.”) your personal information upon reason as they are incorrect, Shippio will conduct necessary investigation, etc. within the range necessary to achieve the purpose of use. Shippio will correct, etc. the relevant personal information based upon the result of investigation, and also notify you of the details, unless special procedures are provided under other laws.

Article 13: Suspension of Use

When you request to terminate the use or delete (hereinafter referred to as “terminate the use, etc.”) your personal information upon reason as they are used beyond the the primary purpose stated in Article 2 or upon reason as they are collected through deceptive or illegal procedure, Shippio will conduct necessary investigation, etc. Shippio will terminate use of the relevant personal information based upon the result of the investigation, and also notify you of the details.
However, upon procedure to terminate the use of personal information, if it requests a large amount of expense, or it is otherwise difficult to completely terminate the use, and when Shippio determines it is possible to take alternative measures necessary to protect your rights and interests, Shippio will decide to take such alternative measures instead.

Article 14: Cookie Information

In order to provide better services, website and web applications operated by Shippio uses cookies to collect and analyze customer usage information. Shippio does not define such information as personal information, since they are difficult to be used alone to identify a specific individual. However, when such information is used in combination with other personal information, such information will also be considered as personal information.
It is always possible to refuse collection of cookie information by setting upon your browser. Please kindly note that there is a possibility that you may not be able to receive the services Shippio provides, partially or fully.
